We are pleased to announce this very Popular series of professional training programs, developed by Jim Wilson, FAU adjunct Faculty member, known in south Florida for his digital imaging expertise. These courses, Entry Level and Intermediate Level classes, are designed to augment the technical skills of still-image enthusiasts and photographers: (1) who are have, or are considering to be outfitted with digital photographic equipment and software, or those individuals (2) who are generally experienced in film-based photographic techniques and desire to learn what this digital world is all about. This workshop environment is designed for a very diverse student body. Everyone attending regardless of experience or background will benefit from this course. The emphasis of these courses are to Digitally Enhance each participants existing film-based skills towards contemporary high quality digital processes, equipment, methods, and techniques. Current technology will be demonstrated. This course will provide information regarding: (A) image file manipulation, post image processing, using Adobe world famous Photoshop software will be emphasized in the course, approximately 65% of course time; (B) methods for digital image file maintenance, security, back-up procedures, imaging science; and (C) selection of digital imaging camera equipment, lenses, optical recording devices, memory cards, flash equipment, scanners, and electronic photo quality printers, approximately 35% of course time. Interested students that are not previously experienced with Photoshop will benefit from the Entry-Level series of instructions; those previously experienced with Photoshop will benefit. Only basic computer skills utilizing Windows based operating system are necessary.
This first Entry/Intermediate Level course in the series is the opportunity to learn about Digital Photography like never before, where you can ask all the question that you were afraid to ask - and you will receive easy to understand, accurate, answers. Learn how to use that Personal Computer for more than e-mail, web, and dull text-only reports. Enhance your writings with digital graphics, images, and captions. This course is designed so that everyone will benefit. Ownership of digital equipment is not a prerequisite. With each session Students Will Learn about the world of digital imaging so that better pictures will be captured; use that personal computer to maximum potential. Classes are kept to a limited size (20 or less) for best student-teacher interaction for the 20 hours of supervised learning. FAU On-Campus modern computer lab facilities provides for an advantageous learning environment. Classes are taught at FAU modern fully equipped computer lab, with projection equipment for easy to understand step-by-step instruction and demonstration of key post-imaging techniques. FAUs Jim Wilson, authored one of the textbooks used in this clas, published by Pearson Education, Boston; Wilson has over 25 years of professional imaging experience, including coverage of several presidential inaugurations, engagements held at the United States Congress and the United States Supreme Court, and has been active taking digital images of many FAU athletic and campus events.

Directions: Enter FAU University Boca Raton Campus, from Glades Road, heading Eastbound from I-95; at NW 10th Street, FAU's Main entrance, drive north, then the road bends eastbound; proceed until you arrive at the Chemistry Building, which is has two cylindrical Smoke Stacks on its roof, Park in Red faculty lot spaces in front of Chemistry Building. The Physical Sciences building is directly behind (to the south of) the Chemistry building. Walk through the Chemistry building, exiting at rear, or around this building to the Physical Sciences building. Enter the Physical Sciences building #55, (Name carved in stone over front doors), enter an elevator at the left, ride up to the 3rd floor, exit left, then turn left to the end of corridor, then go right walking about mid-way down corridor looking at door numbers on left side of corridor until you reach Room 352. The Room will be open at approximately 6:30pm, Class starts promptly at 6:45pm. Park in Faculty Parking Lot (Red parking spaces) anytime after 6pm with valid parking permit. Click onto the "MAP THIS" button at upper-right to show the location of the Physical Sciences Building.
IMPORTANT: Please obtain a one-day guest parking pass from the Guard-Gatehouse at FAU's main entrance, in the event you have not received your parking pass prior to the first class.
